About Metrologic DCS
Metrologic DCS, part of the Sandvik Group, is a recognized global leader in 3D industrial metrology and quality intelligence.
We design innovative software solutions and services that enable manufacturers to master inspection and manufacturing challenges and accelerate their digital transformation.
Our solutions help customers improve product quality, increase efficiency, and drive productivity across global production environments, while reducing quality-related costs and enhancing overall performance.
About the Role
We are looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our 3DCS development team. In this role, you will help design, develop, and maintain the software that powers our industry-leading dimensional variation analysis platform used by manufacturers around the world.
You will work across multiple areas of the product, developing new features, improving existing functionality, and solving complex technical challenges. This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to a specialized engineering application while learning advanced concepts related to geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance analysis, and variation simulation.
If you enjoy tackling complex problems, building high-quality software, and working with a collaborative global team, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Do
Design, develop, test, and maintain software features within the 3DCS platform
Translate user and business requirements into scalable technical solutions
Collaborate with Product Management, Application Engineering, and Software Development teams to define and implement new capabilities
Contribute to architecture discussions and identify opportunities for technical improvements
Create and maintain technical documentation
Participate in code reviews and help uphold coding standards and software quality
Troubleshoot issues and provide support for customer-reported software defects
Develop and execute testing strategies, including regression and performance testing
Support product validation and release activities
Share knowledge, mentor junior team members and interns, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field; equivalent experience will be considered
4+ years of professional software development experience
Strong object-oriented design and programming skills
Proficiency in C++ or demonstrated ability to become highly proficient
Experience working with version control systems, automated testing, continuous integration, and modern software development practices
Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle
Ability to work effectively within a large, established codebase
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies and technical domains
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, or dimensional engineering
Experience with computational geometry, numerical methods, statistics, or simulation software
CAD software or geometry kernel integration experience
Multi-threaded or cross-platform software development experience
Understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes
Experience developing performance-critical software applications
What Makes This Role Unique
3DCS combines software engineering with real-world manufacturing and engineering challenges. While prior experience in dimensional variation analysis is helpful, it is not required. We provide structured training and mentoring to help you build expertise in this specialized field.
Success in this role comes from strong software engineering fundamentals, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.
Key Success Factors
Strong ownership and accountability
Effective prioritization and organization skills
Collaborative mindset and willingness to share expertise
